Surprisingly AWESOME dish! Seafood Chowder, new hit on my list.

Chowder is something that I have heard about but I had never made or tasted until recently. I always thought it to be a very American thing, some kind of a soup but I had no idea how absolutely easy and delicious it is, until one day I came home and my brother had made it. Since then I have been a big fan of chowder, seafood chowder to be more specific. After having tasted it I ventured into making it as well. And chowder is definitely something that you should try out if you have not already (trust me).

So here is a simple recipe that you can alter as you desire, add or subtract different veggies or fish as you please.

Ingredients:

– 1 Onion
– 4 Cloves garlic
– Olive oil
– Potatoes (cubed)
– 1 Cup whipping cream
– 1 Cup milk
– 1 Can corn (approximately)
– Frozen peas
– Shrimp
– Fish
– Chopped fresh chives
– Pinch of cayenne
– Salt
– Pepper

Method:

Place the garlic and onions in a big Dutch oven (or big pan) with some olive oil. When these are a bit caramelised, add the potatoes and then pour water over them.
Bring the water to a boil. Then reduce the heat and simmer until the potatoes are tender (approx. 20 minutes) Now add the whipped cream and the milk, as well as the peas and corn, followed by the fish and shrimp. Season with salt, pepper and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Simmer until the shrimp is opaque. (don’t overcook the shrimp!) Garnish the soup with chives, and eat up!
